For many Italian urban condominiums residential buildings with apartments that were originally built in the early twentieth century, renovation is required. These buildings often need to be refurbished for aesthetic and (fire) safety reasons and to improve their energy efficiency. This was also the case with respect to a ten-storey condominium in Cologno Monzese (close to Milan, Italy). Time had left its mark on the ventilated facade: the facade panels were poorly maintained, unsafe and the blue colour had faded. Effective redevelopment measures were taken to make the façade safe again, restoring its original integrity and brilliance and improving (fire) safety.
